woodhands started out in the basement of Dan Werb's apartment in Montreal. The whole street was getting torn up (to make way for the Hotel Godin, ironically the new artist check-in spot for Pop Montreal), and the first album reflects this sense of building and tearing down - there are alot of swelling, atmospheric, jackhammer-in-the-morning kind of tracks. Back then it was also all about the old wood and analog - none of that new digital synth bullshit.
Since then, things have changed...caring just about analog sounds gets old after awhile. What doesn't is writing great songs and sweating them out onstage. We still love nerding out on analog synths and drum machines, but we're all about the best damn show possible. Keytars! Screaming! Live sex acts! |
